Laredo, Texas
Rio Grande Helicopters Inc, is proud to call Lardeo, Texas home. With our base of operations at our private hangar located on the Laredo International Airport (KLRD) this city has been home to us since our beginning in 2000.
So much history and commerce mixed with varied ethnic and class groups brings new meaning to the word "border town". Laredo was established as a fort in May of 1755 by a Spanish Captain named, Tomas Sanchez. After flying 6 other flags and being a hot spot for many multi nation battles, the City of Laredo officially became property of the United States of America in1846 with the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, establishing the Rio Grande river as the border between Mexico and the US. Today, Laredo is home to the largest inland port in the United States and is a primary entry and exit for trade between the US, Mexico and many other Central/South American countries. With a population of just under 300,000 people and a high Hispanic population due to is location on the border, Laredo carries it's own culture, variety of languages and is rich in history. With our hot and dry climate and an average of just over 20 inches of rainfall annually you can see why this is a great city to operate an aviation business. Visit the Laredo homepage to learn more! |
