Robinson R44 Raven II
The Robinson R44 Raven II is essentially the bigger, stronger brother to the Raven I. Robinson Helicopter Company took all of the winning points they built into the Raven I and added to them with the Raven II. The major difference is that the Raven II has a fuel injected engine. This means that we are able to use all of the available power due to eliminating the carburetor. In this thin Texas air, these machines really have to work hard to make use of what is available. With the fuel injection, we get 20 more available horsepower, more T/O power, more continued power and more useful load.
That doesn't mean you can load up 4 Texas sized boys and go just because there are 4 seats. That would be similar to putting those some 4 boys on 1 horse, just because they fit. The outcome would not be pretty. Everything has it's limits and the Raven II is no exception, those limits are just reduced.
Our Raven II comes equipped with Air Conditioning for those long, hot days. Something that is usually reserved for larger turbine powered helicopters.
Rio Grande Helicopters currently operates 1 Raven II in our fleet.
